“My visceral fat has lowered from 15 to 7”

I first started attending my local Wellness Club in Kensington, and entered my 1st weight-loss challenge in March 2008.  I had been attending weight watchers for 2 years and lost 1 stone, however I felt that I had gone as far as I could at weight watchers and needed a fresh look at my weight-loss goals.

When I first attended the wellness club I was shocked to find out that even though I had lost 1 stone, my body fat was 49.5% and still at very dangerous levels.  The coach in the wellness club explained how throughout the 12 week challenge I would learn all about my body, food, exercise nutrition and lifestyle and I how could lose body fat in a healthy nutritious way, and keep it off forever.

My starting weight in March 08 was 16.10st, and in November 08,  I was 13.12st so in 8 months I have lost just under 3 stone, which I am very excited about. I have more energy, feel fantastic, and have learnt some very valuable lessons on healthy weight loss diet and nutrition.

During this time by body fat has gone from a very unhealthy 49.5% to 39.3% and I am very nearly in the healthy BMI and body fat % range.  My visceral fat has lowered from 15 to 7, so I know I am getting healthier and healthier every week I attend.  I have also lost a total of 75.5cm of body fat from my waist, bust, hip, thigh and upper arm.  I owe it all to the wellness club and my fantastic coach who has helped and supported me every step of the way.  I have met lots of new friends in the club, and we all support each-other every week.

” I have tried every diet going”

I
started my first weight-loss challenge in May 07.  I was frustrated with my weight gain, and looked on the internet to find a local weight loss club. I found the community weight-loss challenge, which I had never heard of before., but it looked interesting the way they helped people lose weight

After my 2nd child 11yrs ago I have tried every diet going, weight watchers, slimming world, Rosemary Connelly, and also tried to starve myself to lose weight, and even though I lost weight, I found that I didn't have the staying power to see it through and the weight just piled back on again.  I was really sick of yoyo dieting and so when I saw the information on the Weight-loss challenge website on how over the 12 weeks, in a workshop kind of environment they would teach and educate me on how to lose weight in a healthy way and keep it off,  I jumped at the challenge.  Also as there were prizes to win at the end it spurred me on even more to get a great result

.
When I started  in June 07 I was 15.2st size 18. I also suffered from acid reflux and have done for the last 5 yrs, Rennies were my best friend!   When I started the nutrition program and lifestyle changes  I had been advised on in the club I couldn't believe how easy it was.  In my first week I lost 8lbs, my energy levels were going through the roof and my reflux was no longer bothering me.  Just 4 months later I had lost 35lbs and had dropped 2 dress sizes to a 14, I have a spring in my step again and feel and look 10 years younger.   At last I have found a regime that works for me, and still attend my local Wellness Club to help stay on track.Debbie Campbell. “I have struggled with my weight for years”

PICT0002 elaine after.JPG

I started the weight-loss challenge after a knee operation on June 07 after I saw my daughter Debbie getting such great results by attending the wellness club.  I have struggled with my weight for years, and my doctor was becoming increasingly concerned about my health.  I had diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, water retention and bloating, and I was on medication for everything.

Over the 4 month period of starting the challenge I have lost 39lbs, was a size 22 now size 16!  Most incredibly my blood count is now normal and I now do not take ANY medications at all!

I am so happy my daughter found the weight-loss challenge and I can now rest assured I will live a longer, healthier and happier life!

“My diet was all carbs I had no nutrition going into my body”

always-tired.jpg “I always felt tired and I didn't know why.”

For Julie Albright, the third try was the charm. Throughout her 30s and early 40s, she had twice been told about the nutritional and weight-loss benefits of Herbalife products, but she was reluctant to give them a try. “I was pretty negative,” she says. “Even though I had no energy and felt terrible, I didn't think anything would help.” Although a skeptic about weight loss, Julie's competitive streak came out when she was asked to join a weight-loss challenge. She joined, lost 25 pounds, and won the contest–all with the help of Herbalife.

“I realized what my body had been missing!”

Long plagued by muscle and joint pain, Julie noticed that her weight loss coincided with renewed energy. Her lower weight reduced stress on her joints. “Before, my diet had been almost all carbs,” she says. “I had no nutrition going into my body, which meant I was both overweight and malnourished.” With 41 pounds lost, Julie continues to drink a shake every day and sees especially amazing results from Florafibre. No longer a skeptic, she talks to people about Herbalife whenever she can. “Before I was functioning at around 25 percent of my capacity,” she says. “Now it feels like 100 percent.” “I finally have my life back.

A healthy, active lifestyle starts with achieving balanced nutrition

Intelligent+Nutrition+Wheel.jpgA Balanced Nutrition Plan is essential for providing our bodies with the nutrients required to make them function properly. Unfortunately, today's busy, modern lifestyles mean we don't always make healthy food and drink choices – so we often miss out on necessary nutrients. Processed food has often lost essential vitamins, minerals and other nutrients, so, it is very important that we adopt good eating habits and use supplements when necessary

An intelligent nutrition plan should provide bodies with balanced levels of energy, vitamins, minerals, good carbohydrates, plant-based protein, healthy fats and beneficial fibre, herbs and antioxidants. The intelligent nutrition concept involves eating a variety of foods – but all in moderation: being “intelligent” about what we are eating.

Cereals for breakfast, sandwiches for lunch, pasta for dinner and rice cakes, chocolate and biscuits for snacks?!  “My diet had been almost all carbs i had no nutrition going into my body”

Every attendee is offered a comprehensive wellness questionnaire, professional body composition analysis and advice on simple changes they can make to improve their diet.

Healthy Breakfast?

What do you have for breakfast? Chances are, like most people, you have either a simple carbohydrate 'meal' of toast or cereal, or you skip breakfast entirely (usually leading to mid-morning snacking).

Both of these approaches lead to rapid increases in blood sugar and insulin, carbohydrate cravings (snacking) and a drop in energy.

Carb-based breakfast…
In the morning, simple carbohydrates (sugary refined cereals, white bread, toast etc) cause

an immediate surge in blood sugar, which results in a substantial release of insulin from our pancreas.

The insulin removes most of the sugar from our blood, turning any excess into fat. This decreased level of blood sugar results in further cravings for carbohydrates.

This vicious cycle constitutes one of the major reasons for diabetes, high blood pressure and extra weight.

Skipping breakfast...
When we skip breakfast, blood sugar drops below the normal level , leading to cravings and a

drop in energy.

To deal with cravings, we usually revert to snacking on simple carbohydrates, causing a fast rise in blood sugar levels and a substantial insulin emission. The insulin removes most of the sugar from the blood and turns any excess into fat. Our body, now low in blood sugar, experiences further cravings and a drop in energy.

This vicious cycle constitutes one of the major reasons for diabetes, high blood pressure and extra weight

Balanced healthy breakfast
A balanced breakfast supplies our body with vital nutrients and energy without increasing

blood sugar and insulin levels, and helps to avoid dependence on carbs during the day. In this way, appetite stays under control, cravings for carbs diminish and our body uses its fat stores for energy.

Criteria of a good breakfast
A balanced healthy breakfast should do three things:

Rehydrate the body, to replace the fluids lost during sleep.
Provide the body with energy.
Provide the body with all vital nutrients while helping to maintain a normal blood sugar level.
